So you want to be a Bear
We are always looking for new players and volunteers. Whether you want to play, help with practices or events, or just learn more about the sport, we have a place for you!
Players
Criteria for playing wheelchair rugby includes having a disability which affects all four limbs. This sets it apart from other adaptive sports and makes it more inclusive to those with lower function. Diagnoses include spinal cord injury, amputees, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, and many more.
If you want to try the sport, contact the team through the "contact us" page, or come out to a practice at the NEDSRA facility in Addison, IL on Wednesdays 7-10pm and Sundays 9am-12pm
Volunteers
There is always a need for support staff on the Bear's sidelines for tasks including helping players into wheelchairs, changing tires and maintaining wheelchairs, reffing practices, running drills, or providing transportation to/from practices and games. If you have experience in the sport, mentoring or coaching is appreciated as well.
Contact us with any questions or ideas, and we will get you involved.
